Best Prenatal Vitamins for Pregnancy

What has changed with my daily supplement routine during pregnancy? Not a whole lot, to be honest. You can read all about my daily supplement routines here.

PRENATAL VITAMIN

The main switch I made was from a daily vitamin to a prenatal and increased the amount of fish oil I have been taking.

I had been on birth control for most of my adult life, so as soon as I went off birth control I decided that I would switch from a daily vitamin to a prenatal to start to get my body ready for one day becoming a mother. This ended up being about a year before we decided to grow our little family.

I always knew that women were supposed to take prenatal vitamins, but that was the extent of my knowledge at the time. The first thing I did was check with my doctor, and what the CDC recommended. The CDC recommends 400 mcg of folic acid every day for women to help prevent some birth defects.

With that knowledge, I decided that I wanted to get the highest-quality vitamins available to give the baby the best start from day one. So I did a little digging of my own, and that is when I landed on the Joy Bundle by 1st Phorm.

1st Phorm’s Joy Bundle combines 2 of the most critical vitamins to take during pregnancy.

PRENATAL PLUS

With my research, I know I wanted something to help develop features including bones, eyes, immune system, and cellular and blood production. Which meant I needed:

  • Folic Acid: Plays a role in the baby’s nervous system and reduces the risk of brain or spine defects.
  • Vitamin A: Supports healthy eye development and function.
  • Calcium and Vitamin D3: Both help develop and support strong bones.
  • Vitamins A, C, and D and Zinc: Immune system support.
  • Iron: Your iron requirements nearly double when you become pregnant. Iron creates red blood cells necessary to deliver oxygen to cells in your body.
  • B vitamins: Support cellular energy production.

FULL MEGA / FISH OIL

The other vitamin I wanted to ensure I was getting enough of was Omega 3s to improve the baby's eye and brain development.

I loved that once I became pregnant, I was able to purchase both the prenatal and fish oil in a bundle and at a discount with JOY BUNDLE TRIMESTER 3-PACK.

Those were the main changes I made, the 2 things remain the same:

Opti-Greens 50

Level-1 Protein

Along with my pre and post-workout routines. I don’t take a pre-workout right now either in case I need or want a little coffee when I sit down to work.
